A Journey Rooted in Whenua
Mauri Maunga was created from a desire to share what matters to us in a way that feels genuine and respectful. What began within our own whānau has grown into a kaupapa that welcomes manuhiri into a deeper understanding of the whenua and rohe we call home.
This is not performance. This is whakapapa. This is the living breath of our ancestors, shared with you.

Our relationship with the whenua is part of who we are and how we live. It carries responsibilities as well as belonging, and those responsibilities continue to inform the way Mauri Maunga is built.
We recognise that what we create has a place within the wider rohe, and we hold care for the whenua as part of that responsibility.

“Our way of welcoming manuhiri comes from our whānau values and the tikanga we uphold on our marae. We also follow the principles of Te Whare Tapa Whā, caring for people in a balanced way – their wairua (spirit), hinengaro (mind), tinana (body) and whānau (family).”
Between us, we bring different strengths, knowledge and skills to Mauri Maunga. We care about creating an environment where people feel comfortable, respected and genuinely welcomed.

We want our manuhiri to see beyond the postcard views, to understand what truly matters to us and how we care for and protect this special home. The alpine mountains and geothermal wonders here are breathtaking, but they are also living forces that deserve deep respect.
